I don't think the 5 star rating are completely useless. Sometimes I will choose a film to download based on a high rating, but I never let a low rating turn me off to a film. When I write a review, I hate having to rate on a single scale. I like Christine Hennig's separate scales: Camp/Humor Value, Weirdness, Historical Interest, Overall Rating.

Of course some great films have low star rating and vice versa, anytime anything is judged peoples opinions will differ. I think most people giving star ratings on here are like me, they take into consideration how the film personally relates to them or what they were searching for rather than the actual production quality.I think the rating system makes this site more fun to browse through and makes people more inclined to write reviews.
